Grace, Mercy and Peace

God loves you.

I know this because He loves me.  And He's God.

Simplistic, yes, but I find that when it comes to God, the simple things are the most important.  He loves us.  He wants us to love Him.  He wants us to love each other.

This is what keeps me going on my "New Life Journey."  I know that when I mess up He is still there...loving me.  Wanting the best for me.  He doesn't have to be hard on me, because I do a good enough job on that all by myself.

He created me.  He created everything!  And He has a purpose for my life.  He has a purpose for your life.  I'm pretty sure my purpose is NOT eating myself into oblivion.  Jesus said He came so that we might have abundant life.  ("The thief comes to kill and destroy.  I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly." John 10:10 NASB)

Today I claim life!  Eating right and exercising aren't just about losing weight; they are about taking care of myself so that I can enjoy abundant life!  To give up would be to live on the side of the thief, who only wants to kill and destroy.  I just don't want to be on that team.

So I put my trust in the Lord.  No matter what happens, I know He will be with me.  Everything about Him is good.  His grace. His mercy. His peace.  My joy!

Hugs.

Cindy, I read your blog and it is as if you are writing from my mind. Every single thing that is happening to you is happening to me...from the plateau, to the not exercising enough, to being lazy about measuring, to...well, just everything. I feel like you are writing my struggle. Even your weight loss/gains mirror my own, even though I'm about 10 pounds behind you! It's weird!

But it encourages me to know that *I* am not alone in this struggle. There is someone else experiencing exactly what I am experiencing. And I know that if you can do it, I can do it.

One thing you are doing that I have not been doing is staying as close to the Lord. I have not done my daily time with Him since my Bible study ended the first of May. That is shameful! But I am starting a new one Tuesday night with a group of ladies who need to lose and we are going to do the book "Made to Crave" by Lisa Terquist (sp?) and I'm going to get back to my daily time with Him beginning today. Because you are.

I'm on this journey with you. Thank you for being there.

    1. Catherine, you humble and encourage me! I'm so glad that we are on this journey together. It helps me so much, too, to know that I am not alone. Together we can do this!

  2. Hi Cindy,

Wow! I don't know who Catherine is, but I like her! I love that your journey is impacting others!

Your blog is beautiful. Grace, mercy and peace. I feel better just reading those words. And that He loves us. What comfort. I wanted to look up the verse, "the greatest of these is love" and was surprised to see the verse that comes right before that!

    1 Cor 13:11-13
"Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."

We cannot understand everything about His plan. One day we will know all, but for our time on earth, we do the best we can to be obedient, to live in accordance with His will for our lives. But for all the things we cannot understand, we always know that He loves us, and (as you said), we should love each other.

God's blessings to you, my dear sister. Thank you for giving a feeling of peace to all who are reading today.

    Love you,
    Your sister
